For the next year, on the 13th of every month, 51�Թ��� community members will be celebrating the Year of ’13. Tonight, Director Francesca Zambello ’78, H’12 will mark the day in her own special way when she brings Hector Berlioz’ Les Troyens back to the Metropolitan Opera stage at 6 p.m.

On November 13, President Jeffrey Herbst took the stage at the Palace Theater to profile Nelson Mandela. Recounting the South African leader’s life and political legacy, Herbst stood next to Mandela’s portrait — one of 29 canvases in the Great Minds exhibition, sponsored by Dick Resnick ’61, P’90.

Final figures for Early Decision show applications increased 16.5% compared to last year, and members of the 51�Թ��� Office of Admission say the spike did not come from a single area, but across socioeconomic groups, ethnicities, and regions. 51�Թ���’s record-breaking Passion for the Climb fundraising campaign put the university in the national spotlight. It also caught the attention of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), one of America’s largest nonprofit educational associations.

51�Թ��� wide receiver Chris Looney capped an amazing senior season by being named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Football Team. Looney was selected for first-team honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It is 51�Թ���’s first Academic All-America recipient since John Frieser in 2003.
