The primary objective of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s off-campus study program is the health and safety of the students who are studying off campus and abroad.

Health Insurance

Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) Insurance Company

51³Ô¹ÏÍø contracts with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) to offer health insurance and assistance to students, staff, and faculty on 51³Ô¹ÏÍø study groups and extended-study trips.

Individuals working through CISI's network of contracted physicians worldwide generally have no up-front costs or co-pays for covered medical care. CISI additionally provides coverage for:

  • medical evacuation
  • prescription medication
  • and many other health-related emergency expenses

Health Insurance and Emergencies 

Approved Programs

Faculty, staff, and students traveling on any of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s approved programs may purchase coverage through CISI at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's group rate. However, insurance coverage is included by most approved programs.

Assistance and Evacuation Services

International SOS

While CISI health insurance coverage includes a medical evacuation service, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø additionally contracts with International SOS to provide worldwide assistance and evacuation services for all participants in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø study groups and extended-study trips.

Limitations

Although SOS offers students and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø community security advice and services, SOS is not health insurance. Students with medical concerns should work through CISI for referrals and medical assistance.

In the event of an emergency or incident during a student’s off-campus study experience, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø will communicate directly with the listed emergency contacts of any impacted students.
